Bob Shanks has been around the game of golf since he was a young boy. He was taught to play by his pop. And having five brothers who play has given him lots of opportunity to get out on the driving range or the putting green.
Watching the pros on TV gets him excited to get out there and play. For his 10th article on his blog, he’s gonna write about one of those pros – LPGA and Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson.

The Eagles were one of the most successful bands of the 1970. It’s no surprise they have five #1 singles and six Grammys to their name.
The Eagles have sold 150 million records , making them one of the world’s best selling bands. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked The Eagles at #75 among the 100 Greatest Artists of All-Time. Bob Shanks had the grand experience of watching The Eagles with his pops not once, but twice, live in concert. Both times were definitely a hoot & holler at Rogers Arena. #ClassicallyFresh indeed.
If you’ve been a Vancouverite since at least the early 90’s, then you have likely grown to love and appreciate the level of excellence, leadership, grit and straight up awesomeness of the man I had the privilege of interviewing recently... “Captain Kirk”.
I know Kirk McLean personally through my fundraising for Canucks Autism Network (CAN). I got to sit down with him and ask him questions about his NHL career. I love sunset pics so much because it’s absolute beauty in every shot. Different shots every time, yet still magnificent.
Some of my favourite places to take sunset pics are on the patio at Mahony’s Burrard & Stamps Landing. I’ve taken tons at the beach, in the Okanagan and while camping.
If you didn’t already know by now, Bob Shanks LOVES hockey! Especially Canadian legends like Mario Lemieux.
Bob Shanks was 11 years old when Mario Lemieux helped Team Canada win gold against our arch rival USA at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake. He had previously helped Canada win the Canada Cup in 1987 and also went on to a World Cup of Hockey title in 2004. Let me tell you about the phenomenal player Super Mario was. Watching Magnificent Mario was a ride like no other. Buckle up and settle in my friends. Find your favourite chair with your favourite drink & your specs if you need ‘em. #ClassicallyFresh times await you.
I’ve always loved the way Steve Nash played basketball. What an exciting player to watch.
Nash is the only NBA player to be born in South Africa, but Canadians take pride that he was raised in BC and played high school ball for St. Michael’s University School in Victoria. My oldest brother Jeff is the same age as Nash. And while going to high school at St. George’s in Vancouver, he had the opportunity to play against the NBA legend.
My oldest brother Jeff always loved playing multiple sports growing up. For 13 years, he played ultimate. Today, he is a Hall of Famer with both Ultimate Canada and USA Ultimate.
Jeff Cruickshank first got interested in the sport when he was 19. Attending UBC, the people he was hanging around were always playing ultimate. He played one year at UBC before joining Furious George, an elite Vancouver-based club.
I have always loved soccer as a sport to watch and play. When I was in elementary school, I played for a few years.
Christine Sinclair is somebody I have enjoyed watching and following her entire career. Something that I find so exciting is how engaged she is on the soccer pitch. Her goal scoring ability is made of pure skill, speed, finesse and a huge amount of dedication and determination.

I remember the first time I noticed Quinn Hughes would be something special. It was his first NHL assist against the Los Angeles Kings. Hughes comes in off the rush. He stops behind the net occupied by Jonathan Quick, banks the puck off the back of the net end boards to himself and comes out in front, and he rips it on net. A juicy rebound comes available and Brock Boeser pounces like any neighbourhood cat would and scores as he’s falling to the ice.
Elias Pettersson broke onto the scene and made an immediate and much needed impact on the Vancouver Canucks and The Faithful. Not since the arrival of Pavel Bure in 1992, has a player created a buzz quite like it. And with that buzz planted a seed of hope for Canuck nation and their quest for the Stanley Cup.
